Common questions
Is OHMIE a replacement for the code book or my AHJ?
No. OHMIE is reference guidance that puts the NEC and your state's amendments into plain language with the sizing already worked out. Local codes and your Authority Having Jurisdiction take precedence, and final responsibility for compliance, safety and workmanship stays with the installing electrician. Think of it as a fast, well-organized second set of hands — not the final word.
Where does the code data come from — is it accurate?
OHMIE runs on a deterministic engine (real code tables and sizing rules, not a chatbot that guesses), and the content is reviewed by a master electrician. State editions and amendments are verified against each state's own authority rather than aggregators. That said, codes change on their own schedules — always confirm current state and local rules with your AHJ.
Does OHMIE work offline?
Yes. Everything runs on your device with no server and no network requirement — it works in a basement panel room with no signal. See the privacy policy for how your data stays on-device.
How do I get the app? I don't see it in the App Store.
OHMIE is in a pilot ahead of its public App Store release. To get early access, join the pilot from the home page or email us. We'll add you as a tester.
What does OHMIE do with my job information?
Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to send it (an email report, a Job Ticket, or the share sheet). OHMIE has no accounts, no analytics, and no server. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
Can the office and the field use it together?
Yes — that's the Job Ticket. The office builds the job in the same app and hands it off as a link, a scannable QR code, or a file; it opens pre-filled in the field. No shared login or server needed.
Report a bug or suggest a fix
OHMIE is built with working electricians, and field feedback goes straight into the app. If a material line, a citation, or a sizing result looks off, tell us — email support@onbaseiq.com with the job type, your answers, and a screenshot. A domain expert reviews every correction.
